Who We Are

The Mansfield Animal Shelter's mission is to achieve the most efficient and effective use of resources for the benefit of the citizens and animals, to create an environment in which people can move about safely (law enforcement), and to minimize euthanasia by promoting our facility's pets for adoption in as many ways as possible.

Weekdays: by appointment
Weekends: 10am - 11am
Holidays: by appointment
Appointments are necessary since the officer is on the road on a regular basis.

Fees

Our adoption fee is $5 for neutered or spayed pets. If the animal is not already spayed or neutered, the fee will be $50 through the CT animal population control program. We use pet adoption questionnaires to match prospective owners with pets. By state statute, we reserve the right to refuse any adoption.

Adopting a friend

We conduct temperament evaluations on our dogs in order to find them the right homes. We give extensive information and advice about pets. We offer a 'trial day' that is, a day in which new owners get to know the dog in a home situation. We are always prepared to take pets back if it doesn't work out. We strongly recommend formal obedience training for a succesful relationship with your new dog.
